Bibacord Power Cable
Our power cable has evolved into the Mk3 version. EMI/RFI protection has been improved as well as the mechanical damping. Conductors are unchanged, the same deep cryogenically treated pure copper as in the previous version. Total conductor size is 13.2 mm² (6.6 mm² each for L and N path).
The conductive and dissipative properties of the materials surrounding the conductors have been modified. You can hear the improvement for instance on a piano recording: The percussive character of the attack when the hammer hits the string on a piano is more conspicuous. Also the sense of “spatial unfolding” of the decay part is clearer. The piano is especially difficult to reproduce and a crucial test for a power cable.
We have tried a great number of connectors from various brands (copper, gold, silver and rhodium). The best sound, most consistent with our line of cables, comes with the Oyaide palladium plated beryllium copper connectors (P-004 US male, P-004e Schuko, C-004 female 15A and C-237 US female 20A).
The best matching wall outlet is also found to be the palladium receptacles from Oyaide (SWD-XXX-E Schuko and R-1 US version). They give a superior grip on the power plug pins and the use of the same palladium plating seems to be beneficial soundwise.
The power cable can be ordered in any length, but we recommend at least 1.5 meter since a longer cable actually sounds “better” than a short one.
The power cable is also available in a special “DAC” version for digital equipment (dac, server, reclocker, cd transport etc). The earth conductor is implemented differently from the standard (“analog”) version, otherwise they are the same.
For best result, we recommend using the standard cable for analog amplifiers and the DAC version for digital components. Again, you can hear the difference using a good piano recording.
